Lyrics

         Montgomery’s Tavern

Andy Ruszel S0can

It’s the fall of 1837,      As I write these words in my diary,       I’m going down to Montgomery’s Tavern ,      To follow Samuel Lount and MacKenzi

Come on down to Montgomery’s Tavern,    And we’ll lift a glass of ale,     Then we’ll go down on the streets,     With freedom on our lips,

And we’ll whip those red coat tails,    We will whip those red coat tails

I am just a common working man

I love my family and my country

I love my freedom and I love my God

My God don’t let them take our libetty

Will my brothers and sisters remember this day

When the future dawns on our nation

And if those who rule close their ears again

Who will stand and be a Canadian

I said “Up then brave Canadians”
